Liquorice Garden Project

The Liquorice Gardens continue to develop and the liquorice plants are growing as well as other medicinal plants. We now have a book and a children’s pack, which we have developed.

We are able to provide talks and interactive visits to the Liquorice Project Gardens.

New Raised Beds

We added 12 new raised growing beds last year, and are growing many different varieties of vegetables. We had three beds with 300 Tulips in the spring, for cutting, used for mothers day and spring sales.

Flowers at the Mill

We entered this important local flower show with a huge entry in the Mill flower festival, called ‘Million dreams’.

Expanded Enterprise

We have significantly developed our growing of spring and summer bedding plants. Sales of these plants are helping to create a sustainability for the project.

We have several places where we can sell cacti and mini gardens, and also two garden centres who will take the plants.

We have arranged for several places to take the seeds produced, next year.

Therapeutic Gardens

Our therapeutic gardening project is increasing, with many people taking part in this year’s programme.

Gardening Awards

We will be hosting our second ‘Tomorrow People Awards’ for youth volunteering. We will be awarding our young people with special needs trophies and awards for their volunteering work.

Sunshine Sensory Garden

We are creating a sensory garden for children (focusing on the children who attend the Treasured Kids respite project) and have a number of large items donated. These include a grant from GEM RADIO of £750 including a Water Wall, a Wicker Castle, a Bell Chime and a musical item.

Sainsbury’s have taken this project on to help use create the garden as part of their anniversary celebrations.

Wildlife Wonderland

We are creating a wildlife area with a ‘Wonderland’ theme. There will be a rabbit hole entrance, Mad Hatter’s bird feeding station, living art gallery, giant toadstool area, wonderland woodery and insect hotels etc.

Palette ‘Secret Place’ Building

We are creating a wildlife area with a ‘Wonderland’ theme. There will be a rabbit hole entrance, Mad Hatter’s bird feeding station, living art gallery, giant toadstool area, wonderland woodery and insect hotels etc.

Second Rockery

We have created a second rockery, with heucheras and other perennial plants.

Second Chicken Coop and Second Flock of Chickens

We have built a second chicken coop and have hatched out eggs of different shell colours, to add to our egg production of ‘Rainbow Eggs’.

We hatched out 34 chicks, but a number were cockerels, which have mostly been shipped to a local farm.

Auricula Theatre

We have created an Auricular theatre, and installed it at OASIS with the first plants in our collection of Auriculas. This tradition has come from Victorian times and is an interesting and fascinating way of displaying these beautiful names varieties of plants.

Flowers for Life – Floristry Classes

We have been running floristry workshops, teaching people to use our flowers in creating wonderful displays and bouquets.

OASIS Gardens Calendar

We created a lovely calendar with photographs from the seasons at the OASIS Gardens, and sold over 50 copies.

OASIS Gardens for life – Website

We have been creating a new website (this website) dedicated to the OASIS Gardens. The website showcases our events, pictures through the seasons and giving gardening and floristry help and advice.

OASIS Seeds for Life

We have been gathering, collecting and drying seeds from our gardens, and will be packaging them for sale to the community, as part of our sustainability programme.
